  • Supply chain solutions provider gets new SVP, marketing chief

    MIAMI — Ryder System, a leading commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions provider, has appointed Karen Jones as SVP and chief marketing officer. She will report to chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez.

    Jones will be responsible for leading both the Fleet Management Solutions and Supply Chain Solutions marketing departments and integrating the management of all marketing and brand related activities across Ryder.

  • Gap extends ads to digital, social, mobile space

    New York – Gap Inc. is launching a fall global marketing campaign called “Back to Blue” that features two videos with musicians Dhani Harrison and Alexa Ray Joel, which consumers can watch on TV, desktops and smartphones/tablets.

  • Canadian court gives OK to Shoppers Drug Mart acquisition

    New York -- The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has approved Loblaw Cos.’ acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart.

    Completion of the arrangement remains conditional on compliance with the Competition Act and certain other closing conditions customary in transactions of this nature. The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of first quarter 2014.

  • Target does design deal with Peter Pilotto

    Talk about planning ahead. Target has announced a new collaboration with designer Peter Pilotto that won’t hit stores or the Internet until February 2014.

  • Walmart awards grant to Northwest Arkansas Council

    Walmart awarded a $500,000 grant to the Northwest Arkansas Council to support the advancement of healthy living and economic improvement initiatives throughout Northwest Arkansas. 

    The grant is part of a three-year commitment by Walmart to fund the Greater Northwest Arkansas Development Strategy, a regional growth and development plan spearheaded in 2010 by the Northwest Arkansas Council, local chambers of commerce and other organizations. 

  • Becker’s revamps e-commerce site

    Becker’s School Supplies has re-launched its e-commerce site using the WebLinc platform in an effort to offer a branded user experience.

    The WebLinc platform also provides back-end merchandising and management tools. Since rolling out its new site, Becker’s has experienced a 120% jump in revenue compared to the same period last year, and saw transaction volume increase by 81% as a result of improved online performance.
