  • Bon Ton names finance expert to board

    York, Pa. -- Daniel T. Motulsky has been named to the board of directors of The Bon Ton Stores Inc., effective Aug. 1. Motulsky, 52, was a managing director and global head of consumer & retail of financial advisory and asset management firm Lazard from 2000 to June 2014, having joined the firm in 1998.

Lazard is a global financial advisory and asset management firm that engages in investment banking, asset management and other financial services primarily with institutional clients.

  • Havertys net income stays flat in Q2

    Atlanta – Havertys reported essentially flat net income growth in the second quarter of fiscal 2014. Net income was $4.82 million, compared to $4.83 million in the second quarter of the prior fiscal year.

    Net sales rose 2.5% to $175.13 million, from $171.11 million. Same-store sales climbed 3.2%.

    Austin, Texas – Whole Foods plans to expand its loyalty, marketing and home delivery programs. In a conference call with investors, co-CEO Walter Robb said Whole Foods will launch its first national marketing campaign in fall 2014, with a focus on how the retailer is better and different than its competitors.

The company has partnered with Medela, a manufacturer of breast pumps and postnatal supplies, to provide the Medela Breast Pump Rental Service to parents nationwide.

  • Meijer drives early BTS sales with price drops and digital coupons

    Meijer is generating traffic to its stores with weekly promotions and price drops on more than 300 of back-to-school items, which it plans to continue offering into September. In the past few weeks alone, customer traffic has consistently doubled, according to the retailer.
