  • BitPay expands San Francisco office

    BitPay, a payment service provider (PSP) specializing in e-commerce, B2B and enterprise solutions for the bitcoin digital currency, has expanded its San Francisco office with several new hires.

    The company has named Sonny Singh as its chief commercial officer to oversee all sales operations. With more than 15 years of experience in helping to grow tech companies, Singh will be responsible for increasing BitPay’s customer base of more than 40,000 merchants.
     

  • Fatburger pilots CurbStand valet app

    Los Angeles – Fatburger is piloting CurbStand, the iOS app that allows users to seamlessly locate, pay and tip for valet parking from their mobile devices. For a limited time, customers at the Fatburger West Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles locations can use the free CurbStand app, with plans for additional locations in the future.

  • Ace Hardware net income soars in Q2

    Oak Brook, Ill. – Net income at Ace Hardware Corp. rose 57% to $66.5 million, from $24.2 million. Revenues climbed 13% to $1.33 billion, from $1.17 billion.

  • More executive changes at Belk

    Jan Clevenger has been named EVP and general merchandising manager of men’s, home and kids, reporting to newly named president and chief merchandising officer David Zant.

    Clevenger has served as chair of the Belk Western Division based in Birmingham, Alabama, since March 2008. She began her retail career with Macy's in 1984 in store management before becoming a buyer for men’s and center core.  

  • Provide Commerce purchase hits FTD profit

    Downers Grove, Ill. – Net income dropped 14.5% at FTD Inc. to $4.7 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014 from $5.5 million in the same period the prior year. Costs related to FTD’s planned purchase of Provide Commerce were primarily responsible for the decline in net income.

  • Macy’s optimistic about omnichannel ahead of holidays

    Macy’s tempered its full year sales forecast after solid second quarter results and growing optimism around omnichannel initiatives weren’t enough to offset a slow start to the year.

    Macy’s said sales increased 3.3% to $6.267 billion and same store sales increased 4% during the second quarter ended August 2. Excluding sales in departments licensed to third parties same store sales increase 3.4%. Profits increased to $292 million, or 80 cents a share, from $281 million, or 72 cents a share.
