Walmart gets into family night

9/10/2009

Walmart announced that throughout the month of September it will feature a new Family Night Center in its stores.

The Family Night Centers will include games, such as "Candy Land," "Jenga" and "Monopoly" ranging from $8 to $18, family movies, such as Camp Rock and The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for $10 a pop, as well as a variety of snacks.

"With busier schedules and kids heading back to school, now is a great time to provide a dedicated place in our stores to give mom the savings and ideas to create fun, quality time for her family this fall," said Laura Phillips, chief toy officer and SVP entertainment for Walmart. "Our Family Night Center is designed to provide an easy way to quickly design a complete family night experience."

Walmart also is promoting its new focus on family night by offering tips from mom bloggers on its Web site, www.walmart.com/familymoments.
