Target parents with college promo
As retailers have increased their marketing activities around the back-to-college customers segment some interesting new strategies have emerged. Target for example is offering a series of “college survival packs,” on its Web site in an apparent attempt to target parents concerned about whether their kids have everything they need away from home. The kits fall under the headings of “dirty dorm clean up kit,” “big man on campus grooming kit,” “pretty fabulous beauty kit,” and “to your health wellness kit.” Each is offered at the flat $50 rate and shipping is free. The idea is a clever one and represents a solution for those parents who know their kids need certain essentials when they are away from home, but may be reluctant to send cash or a gift card that could be used for non-essential purchases.
