Newegg steps up its game for holidays

Newegg is looking to be the destination this holiday season for gamers with a new promotion designed to appeal to tech enthusiasts.

This year the retailer is launching Gametober, a promotion featuring a sweepstakes, a host of deals to outfit gamers with the latest gear and free Premier membership for shoppers spending more than $200 this month.

“Gaming enthusiasts have always been a key part of our core customer base, and Gametober gives us the opportunity to reward their loyalty with great deals and a chance for great prizes,” said James Wu, COO at Newegg. “As we prepare for this year’s holiday shopping season, we’re stocking the shelves with gaming video cards, monitors, memory and accessories to get the most out of the latest games.”

From now until Oct. 19, Newegg will accept entries for its “Game Like A Pro” sweepstakes. One lucky grand prize winner will take home the ultimate gaming package worth more than $3,800, while one first-prize winner and one second-prize winner will receive prize packages valued at $800 and $375, respectively.

In addition to the sweepstakes, each week in October Newegg will feature deals on various gaming-related product categories. The first week of October features deep discounts on gaming systems, with subsequent weeks delivering big savings on gaming components, home audio & video, headsets & accessories and great prices on gaming consoles & titles.

During the month of October, Newegg is offering six months of free membership to its Premier customer benefit program for customers who make purchases totaling $300+, and three months of free Premier membership for customers who make purchases of $200+. Customers who make qualifying purchases on or via their mobile devices during the month will receive a promo code via email with instructions for their free Premier membership.

Gaming retailer GameStop also launched a holiday promotion this month: a new and enhanced layaway program.
