Michaels to offer portable design studio

IRVING, Texas Michaels announced that it will be the first store to offer Gypsy by Provo Craft, a portable design studio that allows users to create scrapbook pages, greeting cards and invitations anywhere without a computer.

The Gypsy, which will be available in stores Oct. 4, measures just over 8 inches and weighs 11 ounces. It allows crafters to create, size, rotate, preview and store up to 10,000 custom designs.

"Moms are busy in the fall with the new school year, kids' sports and the upcoming holidays, so Gypsy will help them multitask. They can design their projects wherever, whenever," said Philo Pappas, Michaels EVP category management. "This exciting, innovative device is perfect for the many on-the-go moms we hear from who wish they had more time to spend creating and crafting."
