Dollar General reports 4Q sales growth

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. Dollar General reported that sales increased 11.2% to $2.85 billion in the 2008 fourth quarter compared to $2.56 billion in the 2007 fourth quarter. Same-store sales increased 9.4% for this period, with customer traffic and average transaction both contributing to the sales increase.

For fiscal 2008, total sales increased 10.1%, including a 9% increase in same-store sales.
