Dell reveals Nickelodeon PC

8/12/2009

ROUND ROCK, Texas and NEW YORK Dell and Nickelodeon announced that they have teamed up to create the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition, netbook designed specifically for kids.

The Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition features Viacom channel's trademark "green slime" design, with additional designs based on programs such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "iCarly."

The 10-inch netbook has wireless internet access, weighs less than 3 pounds and comes loaded with entertainment and educational content. It will also feature a personalized user interface with Nickelodeon-branded desktop wallpaper and icons and easy access to the channel's online content.

“Moms insisted that we deliver on three things when it comes to a computer for their children,” said Michael Tatelman, VP Dell global consumer sales and marketing. “First, help provide a safe computing experience. Second, provide superior educational content as well as a world-class entertainment experience. Third, partner with trusted brands. The Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition passes with flying colors on all counts.”

The PC maker did not announce pricing for the netbook, which will be available in October in the U.S. through Dell's online store, and at Wal-Mart outlets and Walmart.com, according to a Reuters report.
