Cost Plus takes a shot at movie buffs

Cost Plus World Market is giving movie lovers until Feb. 21 to participate in an online contest that should help the Bed Bath & Beyond division build its email database.


The “Movie Lovers Sweepstakes” offers film buffs a chance to win one of four grand prize packages of free movies for a year (two tickets per week for 52 weeks) and a $1,000 World Market gift card by registering with their e-mail addresses and other personal information at worldmarketsweepstakes.com.


Cost Plus hopes to entice shoppers to enter by offering two free movie tickets a week for a year, so that moviegoers can catch up on the latest blockbusters or indie films. And, for those nights in, the $1,000 World Market gift card can be used to create a perfect movie night at home by picking up everything from gourmet popcorn flavors and movie theatre box candies to cozy throws and poufs and ottomans for additional seating.


The retailer is also looking to increase customer engagement online by hosting an online Hollywood awards-themed party. The retailer is launching campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to engage with customers who may need help picking out the right sparkling wines, Champagne flutes and candles for their Oscar party.


Cost Plus World Market operates 270 stores in 32 states under the World Market and Cost Plus World Market trademarks.
