Borders launches interactive poetry program
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Borders has teamed up with The Student Publishing Program to launch Open Door Poetry, an interactive program designed to aid and inspire.
The monthly Web-based entertainment program utilizes episodes featuring seven to 10 "spoken-word" and "academic" poets providing writing advice or reciting poems live from locations ranging from the streets and rooftops in New York City to the living room in the home of the poet. According to Borders, each episode also features a writing advice column and a quarterly "Open-Door Poetry Contest" mixed with music and high energy to create an exciting educational and uniquely entertaining show.
In addition to hearing and getting advice on poetry, viewers can submit their poems to "spoken-word" or "academic" poets for judging.
"Borders' 'Open Door Poetry' celebrates passion, individuality and the power of the written and spoken word. It's authentic, thought-provoking and bristling with the type of raw energy that comes from the act of self- expression. In short, it's a perfect example of what we stand for at Borders," said Rich Fahle, vp of content for Borders Group.
