B&N aims to make taking the train more entertaining

Barnes & Noble is targeting train passengers by offering a curated collection of free eBooks and eMagazines to Amtrak customers.


During Amtrak Train Days, which runs from May 9 through November, Amtrak passengers with Nook e-readers will be able to access bestselling eBooks from HarperCollins, in addition to other classics and popular self-published titles from Nook Press that have been customized to appeal to every reading preference, including romance, mystery, thrillers, children’s and business titles.


“Barnes & Noble is always looking at new ways to connect with readers and the fantastic partnership between Amtrak and Nook is a unique way to provide travelers with engaging reading content,” said Jeanniey Mullen, vice president of marketing at Nook. “We’ve partnered with top eBook and eMagazine publishers, while also providing access to classics and popular self-published titles from Nook Press, to bring Amtrak passengers a strong list of reading content to enjoy for free on any device via the Free Nook Reading App.”


The selection will rotate throughout Amtrak Train Days and the list at launch includes HarperCollins titles “Spy Catcher” by Matthew Dunn and “This Will Change Everything” by Jared Diamond, as well as NOOK Press favorites. Amtrak passengers will also have access to enjoy a constantly changing list of free single issue eMagazines from top publishers.
