  • Report: Online location search issues are eroding brand trust

    Denver -- Consumers are increasingly frustrated with location search, with many losing trust in brands due to outdated and inaccurate data, and even turning to competitor businesses. According to a new research report from location data services provider Placeable, “Be Found: Location-Based Marketing Insights,” consumers are all too often given outdated and incorrect information from search engines, mobile apps, directories and even brand websites.

  • Igloo trades private equity owners

    Leading global cooler manufacturer Igloo was acquired by Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm ACON Investments from Connecticut-based private equity firm J.H. Whitney.

    ACON said J.H. Whitney will continue to maintain a small, but undisclosed, stake in the company. Igloo will continue to be led by chairman and CEO Gary Kiedaisch and other members of the existing management team who are also purchasing significant interests in Igloo in connection with the transaction. The company will focus on continued growth in the outdoors, housewares and sporting goods markets.

  • Egg producer names Webb to new ops role

    The nation’s largest egg producer, Cal-Maine Foods, named Wil Webb to a new role as vp of operations.

    Webb will be responsible for the company’s extensive production facilities in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi and reports to Cal-Maine COO Sherman Miller. Webb has been employed with Cal-Maine Foods since 1997 and most recently served as general manager of the company’s operations in Edwards, Mississippi.

  • Sally Beauty follows Target’s lead

    It looks like one year of free credit monitoring has become the new industry standard for retailers looking to placate customers potentially affected by a data breach.

    Sally Beauty is the latest retailer to offer free credit monitoring and identity theft protection following reports in early March that the company detected an unauthorized intrusion into its data network.

  • Vitamin Shoppe takes top customer satisfaction ratings

    North Bergen, N.J. -- The Vitamin Shoppe has been recognized as the top-rated vitamin store and top-rated vitamin store brand based on consumer satisfaction in ConsumerLab.com's 2014 survey of vitamin and supplement users. Each year, ConsumerLab.com, a provider of consumer information and independent evaluations of products that affect health and nutrition, surveys its subscribers about the vitamins and supplements they use.

  • Overstock goes to the dogs and cats

    Animal lovers have a new ally in Overstock.com thanks to a new service that leverages the online retailer’s digital capabilities to find homes for unwanted animals.

    The company’s new pet adoption service allows users to access real-time updates of adoptable animals in thousands of shelters nationwide. Searches can be conducted by types and breeds of animal and filtered by attributes such as gender, age, color and disposition in much that same manner as Overstock.com’s customers search for products.
