Nordstrom Rack reaches Maine

1/2/2013

SEATTLE — Nordstrom plans to open another new Rack store this spring in Maine as the number of off price locations now exceeds the company’s full price stores.

The approximately 30,000-sq.-ft. store at Maine Crossing Shopping Center will be its first location in the state, and is scheduled to open this spring.

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, carrying on-trend merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com at 50-60% off original Nordstrom prices. Nordstrom Rack also offers a wide selection of apparel, accessories and shoes from many of the brands carried in Nordstrom stores. These items are purchased specially for Nordstrom Rack, with most at savings of 30-70% off.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to open a Nordstrom Rack in South Portland," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. "We've been looking for ways to better serve our customers living in Maine who have been making the drive to visit our Rack stores in Boston and look forward to taking care of them when we open this spring at Maine Crossing."

Maine Crossing is a 274,000-sq.-ft. open-air shopping center accessible off Interstate 95 and close to Interstate 295. The new Nordstrom Rack will occupy the former Old Navy space.

The new Nordstrom Rack will bring the total number of Nordstrom Rack locations to 120 for the retailer, which operates 240 stores in 31 states, including 117 full-line stores.
