  • Wayfair.com takes on office superstores

    A week after disclosing plans for a public stock offering, online retailer Wayfair has launched a commercial business that puts it in greater competition with the likes of Staples and Office Depot.

  • Tony Dunning joins Jack Link's

    Veteran consumer packaged goods executive Tony Dunning has joined leading meat snack manufacturer Jack Link’s as EVP of customer development.

    Dunning has considerable experience working with Walmart and joins Jack Link’s from Kimberly-Clark where he served as vp of consumer sales and customer development since 2009. He also served as Kimberly-Clark’s vp of Walmart global from 2005 to 2009.

  • New consoles and games bolster GameStop’s profits in Q2

    Solid performance of GameStop’s business units, including technology brands, as well as sales of new consoles and games bolstered the company’s profits and overall second quarter results.

    Total global sales for the quarter were $1.73 billion, a better-than-expected 25.1% increase from $1.38 billion in the prior year quarter, which reportedly prompted shares to go up 6.2%. Consolidated comparable store sales increased 21.9%.

  • Foot Locker Q2 profit, sales top estimates

    New York -- Foot Locker on Friday turned in another winning performance, posting sales and income for the second quarter that topped analysts’ estimates.

    Net income for the quarter increased to $92 million, from $66 million in the year-ago period.

    Total sales increased 12.9%, to $1.64 billion, compared with $1.45 billion for the corresponding prior-year period. Excluding the effect of foreign currency fluctuations, total sales for the second quarter increased 11.7%.  

  • Ann Q2 profit down; cuts full-year outlook

    New York -- Ann Inc. on Friday reported earnings of $32.7 million in its fiscal second quarter, down from $35.6 million in the second quarter of 2013. Its results were in line Wall Street expectations. Looking ahead, the company forecast revenue for the third quarter below Street estimates and also lowered its revenue outlook for fiscal 2014.

    Total net sales for quarter were $648.7 million, compared with net sales of $638.2 million in the year ago period.

  • Report: PacSun back-to-school campaign features YouTube stars

    New York -- Teen apparel retailer PacSun is partnering with content creators from YouTube in a fun back-to-school marketing campaign. The campaign will feature YouTube stars from StyleHaul, an online community of YouTube subscribers dedicated to women’s fashion and beauty, AdWeek reported.
