Newegg cracks into Prime Day fray

A tech-focused e-tailer is the latest retail company to mount a challenge to Amazon Prime Day.

For the seventh year, Newegg is holding its FantasTech sales extravaganza. Last held in competition with Amazon’s October 2020 Prime Day event, the 2021edition of FantasTech takes place June 21-23, with an official presale kicking off June 14.

The FantasTech sale will offer continual savings on merchandise across Newegg’s entire portfolio, including consumer electronics, entertainment, automotive, smart home, and gaming products. To reward early shoppers, Newegg will offer price protection for the duration of the seven-day presale event June 14-20.

This will ensure that customers who purchase eligible products displaying the FantasTech Price Protection badge during the presale receive the lowest price offered by Newegg during the actual FantasTech event. Customers can make their purchase and if the price then drops below what they paid, Newegg will automatically refund the difference to the customer’s original payment method, with no need to track prices and submit a claim. Newegg will process the refund automatically by July 2, 2021.

Amazon Prime Day 2021 takes place June 21-22, with presale deals already being offered. Walmart and Target have both announced their own upcoming June sales events that directly compete with Prime Day.

“Our FantasTech sale has been such a success in years past that we’ve decided to offer even greater savings to our customers by extending the sale and rewarding early shoppers,” said Anthony Chow, global CEO of Newegg. “Our FantasTech Price Protection makes it easy to buy with confidence and ensures our customers get the best deal offered on our website for eligible products.”
