The team of on-campus sleep experts will receive complimentary bedroom makeovers, host product giveaways, capture content and reviews of products and offer exclusive promotions for their classmates. When the two companies first launched their online delivery partnership, they cited the timing of the upcoming collegiate academic year.

"Our partnership with DoorDash revolutionizes mattress and bedding delivery, offering on-demand delivery that today's college students have come to expect," said George Hanson, Mattress Firm chief digital officer. "With the support of our on-campus sleep experts, we're on a mission to help students prioritize sleep through easier access to the best sleep products."

Students can apply online at a dedicated website operated by Mattress Firm through Monday, Aug. 26, 2024. Applicants will be judged based on their interest in quality sleep, social media presence across Instagram and TikTok, and level of campus involvement. No purchase is required to apply or join the program.

Survey shows Gen Z pays attention to influencers

Mattress Firm and DoorDash’s decision to augment their new delivery partnership with a college influencer program is backed up by data indicating that influencers have a positive impact on sales, especially among Gen Z consumers.

According to a recent consumer survey from creator management platform Grin, among Gen Z and millennial consumers, influencer recommendations eclipsed recommendations from friends and family in terms of trust (51.4% vs. 41.9%).

When asked what qualities they look for that make them trust influencer recommendations, similar in lifestyle was the most popular response (62.4%), followed by similar in appearance (45.2%). And 66% of Gen Z respondents watch product reviews on social media before making a purchase.

Founded in 1986, Mattress Firm operates more than 2,300 stores and an e-commerce site. Founded in 2013, DoorDash offers deliveries in more than 25 countries.
