  • M&M'S World takes candy wall to Vegas

    M&M'S World Las Vegas is celebrating the recent opening of its new candy wall — the largest M&M'S candy wall in the world — with a 3-D representation of the wall designed on the sidewalk outside the store.

    M&M'S World Las Vegas has partnered with the We Talk Chalk art group to create the three-dimensional chalk rendering.

    The wall itself spans more than 62 ft. wide and includes 125 tubes of colorful M&M'S, offering 22 varieties and 11 flavors.

  • Australia’s General Pants installs interactive kiosks with Epicor Retail

    Sydney, Australia – Australian apparel retailer General Pants is rolling out interactive kiosks fusing music, fashion and social media to create a shopping experience to guide, inform and entertain consumers via Apple iPad device displays. The launch is the result of more than six months of development to create an omni-channel platform that merges the online and offline shopping experience.

  • Study: Personal data, digital currency among retail trends for 2014

    San Francisco -- Retail in the coming year will be more streamlined and integrated with online experiences, according to predictions from POS software provider Revel Systems.

  • Belk to Juban Crossing in Livingston Parish, La.

    Charlotte, N.C. — A 75,000-sq.-ft. Belk will anchor the Juban Crossing lifestyle center in Livingston Parish, La., in the fall of 2014. Construction of the $7 million store will begin in February.

  • Restoration Hardware co-CEO says farewell

    Restoration Hardware co-CEO Carlos Alberini has resigned his post, effective Jan. 31, 2014. He plans to continue serving as a member of the company’s board of directors and will remain a significant shareholder.

    Alberini is heading to Los Angeles, where he will take the helm as chairman of the board and CEO of Lucky Brand, effective upon closing of the pending acquisition by Leonard Green & Partners.

  • Tim Hortons introduces mobile payment

    Oakville, Ontario – Customers at participating Tim Horton’s stores throughout Canada and the U.S. using BlackBerry 10 smartphones will be able to register a Tim Card on the TimmyMe mobile app and use NFC tap-to-pay technology to complete their order. Future development plans will also see this platform expanded to Android 4.4 devices.

    Target was the most-browsed mobile app/site in 2013, and Apple’s mobile app/site is where consumers purchase the most, according to a new study from Mobiquity.

  • Online retailer Respect Your Universe to open its first store

    Portland, Ore. – The online active lifestyle apparel retailer Respect Your Universe has signed a five year lease with General Growth Properties Inc. to open its initial flagship store in downtown Seattle at Westlake Center. The retailer has partnered with Los Angeles-based architect and retail strategist Richard Altuna to design the 2,082-sq.-ft. flagship store.
