  • Verizon releases Wi-Fi CRM solution

    New York -- Verizon Enterprise Solutions is launching a new managed, cloud-based Wi-Fi for business solution aimed at retail and food service environments. The solution is designed to be easy to deploy while enabling businesses to improve customer service, customer loyalty and business processes.

  • Rent-A-Center rebrands kiosks

    Plano, Texas – Rent-A-Center plans to rebrand the kiosks it operates within third-party retail locations across the country.

    Operating under the RAC Acceptance brand since being launched in 2006, the kiosks will transition to the AcceptanceNow brand. Existing kiosks, of which there are over 1,300, will convert in January 2014. Kiosks slated to open this month will immediately adopt the AcceptanceNow name.

  • Survey results point to significant additional shopping before the season ends

    Charleston, S.C. -- Despite some early negative reaction to stores opening on Thanksgiving, shoppers ultimately embraced the idea of an extended “Black Friday” and came out for a full weekend of spending, according to the Christmas & Holiday Shopping Forecast released by America's Research Group and Inmar. Survey results show almost three-quarters of shoppers spent part of at least one day of the weekend in stores.

  • NRF puts holiday return fraud at $3.4 billion

    Washington, D.C. -- The retail industry will lose an estimated $8.76 billion to return fraud this year, and $3.39 billion during the holiday season alone, according to the National Retail Federation’s 2013 Return Fraud Survey. Overall, 5.8% of holiday returns are fraudulent, up slightly from 4.6% last year.

  • First Data: Retail dollar volume growth up 9% over Thanksgiving/Black Friday

    Atlanta -- Year-over-year retail dollar volume growth during Thanksgiving and Black Friday was strong at 9.0%, and a significant increase compared to last year’s growth of 5.6%, according to First Data Corp.’s SpendTrend analysis, which tracks same-store consumer spending by credit, signature debit, PIN debit, EBT, closed-loop prepaid cards and checks at U.S. merchant locations.

    Edmonton, Alberta -- Lux Beauty Boutique is rolling out in-store mobile app SelfPay, which lets shoppers handle payment and look up product information on their own devices, enabling shopper-controlled in-store checkout from anywhere within a brick-and-mortar store. Lux Beauty Boutique will host a SelfPay launch party at its store on Dec. 6.
