  • Graham’s sparkles with help from Amerlux

    Dubuque, Iowa — A family-owned, fourth-generation fashion retailer located in Dubuque, Iowa, is using state-of-the-art LED lighting.

    Graham's Style Store has updated its ambience and added a big dash of sparkle with the help of new lighting from Amerlux.

    "Our clothes didn't change, our lighting did," explained Ben Graham of Graham's Style Store. "We redesigned Graham's to entice a whole new generation.”

  • Posiflex releases new mobile POS tablet

    Hayward, Calif. -- Posiflex is releasing a new mobile POS tablet, the MT4008. The MT4008 tablet is a fully modular hybrid system designed to provide mobile flexibility with stationary POS functionality.

    The MT4008 system comprises an 8" tablet, optional 2D scanner with a pistol grip and extended-life battery, and printer docking station.

  • Batteries Plus Bulbs powers omnichannel store connection

    Hartland, Wis. – Batteries Plus Bulbs, a 650-store chain specializing in batteries, lightbulbs and personal electronics repair, has a fairly traditional offering of products and services. But that doesn’t stop the retailer from delivering a modern omnichannel customer experience.

    “We’re a needs-based business,” said Jayson Serrault VP of omnichannel marketing and analytics, Batteries Plus Bulbs. “Customers come to us with a specific need that has some sense of urgency and immediacy.”

  • Mall of America to unwrap big new attraction

    Bloomington, Minn. -- Mall of America is adding a big experiential retail destination.

    Crayola plans to open an interactive attraction that combines retail and entertainment in the nation’s largest shopping mall. The 60,000-sq.-ft. Crayola Experience is slated to open at the Bloomington, Minnesota, mega-mall in the summer of 2016. It will be the third location for the format, which recently opened in the Florida Mall, in Orlando, Florida. (The original Crayola Experience is in the company’s home town of Easton, Pennsylvania.)

  • Google in two big moves sure to impact retail

    New York -- Google made two announcements on Wednesday, both of which will impact retail.

    In the first, the search engine giant said that the “buy” buttons it announced earlier this year will be deployed on a test basis in the next few weeks. The feature, called Purchases on Google, will allow consumers to purchase products directly from ads in select promoted mobile search ads.

  • Footwear brand in deal with Target; updating stores

    New York -- One of the nation’s most venerable children’s footwear brands has entered into a deal with Target. The brand is also updating its own in-store experience as it looks to align itself more directly with contemporary shoppers.

    Stride Rite is launching Surprize by Stride Rite, an exclusive line of tyke-sized tennis shoes in Target, designed in partnership with Stride Rite.

  • Staples launches refresh of e-commerce sites

    Staples Inc. has unveiled several enhancements to its e-commerce operations, including new looks for its websites and streamlined checkout features.

    The retailer says the refresh of Staples.com features faster performance, a new interface designed for easier navigation and expanded personalization. A leading edge business to business site, the redesigned StaplesAdvantage.com has an updated look and feel with a new homepage dashboard, streamlined browsing and checkout.
