    Frustrating digital experiences will land brands on the naughty list this holiday season.   In fact, 81% of frequent online shoppers said they have previously been frustrated with slow-loading websites, mobile sites or native mobile apps, with over three-quarters (76%) saying if a retailer’s web site or mobile site performs poorly they tend to avoid shopping there again.

    Retail real estate professionals and retailers have a symbiotic relationship when it comes to creating great shopping centers and memorable destinations. The former can develop, lease, and broker spaces in great projects in compelling locations, but a retail or mixed-use project is ultimately defined by its tenants: the better the retailers, the better the project.

    Inspired by its West Hollywood Design District locale, Lululemon’s new store on Melrose Avenue offers a sleek, stylish and modern shopping environment.    Modern ivy leaf-inspired patterns throughout the interior and exterior, along with the use of reclaimed red wood and iron spot brick, highlight the architectural components of the 2,750-sq.-ft. space.    
  • Study predicts big fraud increase during holidays

    Cyber-criminals will be up to no good this holiday season, and they are using the Europay, Mastercard, Visa (EMV) shift as their way in.    The EMV mandate may be adding a layer of protection at store-level, however, it is increasing card-not-present (CNP) fraud for digital retailers. In fact, global retailers can expect 12% growth in online fraudulent activity in the upcoming holiday season, compared with the same period last year.  
  • Pet supplies giant hits store milestone; working on new test store

    As PetSmart continues to expand its brick-and-mortar presence across North America, it also is working on its next generation store.    The company opened its 1,500th store, in Sheridan, Colorado. One of approximately 80 new locations the retailer is opening in 2016, the 18,000-sq.-ft. Sheridan store offers a full line of pet supply products along with pet training and adoption services and a full-service grooming salon.  
  • Restoration Hardware’s new Seattle showplace

    Restoration Hardware Holdings continues to expand, opening a 60,000-sq.-ft. store in Seattle at University Village.

  • Nordstrom expands its B2B gift card program

    Nordstrom is taking its gift card program industry-wide.   Leveraging its partnership with CashStar, Nordstrom is using the CashStar Business platform to streamline the sale of its gift cards — both plastic and digital — to business partners.   Called the Nordstrom Gift Cards for Business program, the department store retailer is streamlining orders, and enabling partners to securely place, pay for and manage orders, as well as load cards with $5 to $2,000 per card.
