11/22/2016

As PetSmart continues to expand its brick-and-mortar presence across North America, it also is working on its next generation store.

The company opened its 1,500th store, in Sheridan, Colorado. One of approximately 80 new locations the retailer is opening in 2016, the 18,000-sq.-ft. Sheridan store offers a full line of pet supply products along with pet training and adoption services and a full-service grooming salon.

“We are ramping up efforts to expand our retail footprint in North America. said Michael Massey, president and CEO, PetSmart, which operates 1,470 stores nationwide. “At the same time, just last week, we launched the news of our new and improved, mobile-responsive PetSmart.com site, a key omnichannel strategy for us.”

PetSmart is working with retail and design consultancy Fitch to develop a new store environment, with the test store to open in Highland Ranch, Colorado, in fall 2007. The retailer will use the store to test new ideas and experiences to potentially roll out chainwide.

“Our goal is to design an extraordinary experience that is centered around the emotional bond we all have with our pets,” said Joanne Putka, design director at Fitch. “The new PetSmart test store design will deliver a fun and friendly space with new discoveries to help our pet parents establish and improve the relationship with their pets.”
