  • American Apparel selects Oracle applications to support global retail channels

    Redwood Shores, Calif. -- American Apparel has chosen Oracle ATG Web Commerce and Oracle ATG Web Commerce Customer Service applications to help grow its global, multi-channel retail business. The apparel retailer will use Oracle's ATG Web Commerce to personalize the customer experience across all channels, including the web, contact center, mobile devices, social media and in stores.

  • Nebraska Book Co. teams with Daily Systems for mobile POS

    Paso Robles, Calif. -- Daily Systems said Tuesday that college bookstore chain Nebraska Book Co. has implemented its iAPS payment sled for iPhone and iPod touch, which will enable NBC to sell merchandise in seasonal pop-up stores that are set up close to the dorms in the beginning of the semester.

  • Walmart to offer free federal 1040 EZ tax filing in some 3,000 stores

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart is expanding the services it offers at tax time to include free in-store federal Form 1040EZ filing.

    The chain has partnered with Jackson Hewitt and H&R Block to double its in-store tax kiosks and lower the cost for tax preparation services. Jackson Hewitt will offer free federal Form 1040EZ filing at its Walmart kiosks throughout the tax season, and H&R Block will offer a free federal Form 1040EZ until Feb. 29.

  • 7-Eleven implements mobile solution from On The Spot Systems

    Boston -- On The Spot Systems, a mobile systems provider, announced that 7-Eleven is using its Survey on the Spot mobile survey platform to capture feedback from managers in the field. 7-Eleven recognized the critical importance of gaining timely and accurate market-level data in order to make better business decisions and began using the mobile survey system in March, according to On The Spot Systems.

  • Sephora deploys Agilysis and RedIron mobile POS solution

    Cleveland -- Agilysys announced that beauty retailer Sephora Americas has successfully deployed NextPosition by Agilysys and RedIron's 2Mobile software to enhance customer service in a large number of its U.S.-based stores.

  • Walmart preps for tax season

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart announced that it is helping customers prepare for tax season by offering low-cost tax preparation preparation services and free in-store federal Form 1040EZ filing. In addition, the retailer provides $3 and $6 check-cashing services. 

  • Report: PayPal testing in-store payments at Home Depot

    New York City -- PayPal, which allows consumers to pay for goods online, is running a trial of in-store payments with Home Depot, Reuters reported. PayPay is a division of eBay Inc.

    A pilot program for PayPal's new POS, technologies is being run in five Home Depot stores and involves a "small number" of PayPal employees, according to the report.
     

  • Target discloses first Canada store locations

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has disclosed the location of its first 24 stores in Canada. As previously announced, Target purchased the leasehold interests of 189 sites currently operated by Zellers Inc., and plans to open 125 to 135 stores in Canada, the majority of which will open in 2013.

    Target plans to open stores in the following locations in March/early April 2013:

    • London Westmount, Westmount Shopping Centre

    • Kawartha Lakes, Lindsay Square Mall
