  • Regal Cinemas Theatre to open at Moorestown Mall

    Moorestown, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust announced that it has executed a deal with Regal Entertainment Group to build the Regal Moorestown Mall Stadium 12 & Regal Premium Experience at Moorestown Mall, in southern N.J.

    The 56,000-sq.-ft., 12-screen theatre is slated to open in time for the 2013 summer movie season.

  • Ikea to install solar panels on five locations in Midwest

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- Ikea said Thursday it plans to install solar energy panels on five more of its U.S. locations – all of them in the Midwest. Installation is slated for summer 2012 completion and will expand Ikea’s solar presence to nearly 85% of its U.S. locations. 

  • Eastern Mountain Sports to roll out VeriFone iPad retailing solution

    San Jose, Calif. -- VeriFone Systems announced Thursday that outdoor retailer Eastern Mountain Sports has successfully piloted the VeriFone GlobalBay iPad solution in four stores and is readying a 2012 rollout.

    The VeriFone GlobalBay platform is a software-as-a-service offering that enables a suite of next-generation mobile retail software for retailer-to-consumer interaction and leverages retailers' existing POS, e-commerce and store systems.

  • Target to test Apple mini-stores in select locations

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. confirmed Thursday that it plans to install Apple mini-boutiques in some of its stores this year. The concept will be tested in 25 locations, and feature a wider assortment of Apple products than is currently available at Target, according to Bloomberg.

  • PGA Tour Superstore to open two stores in Chicago area

    Roswell, Ga. -- PGA Tour Superstore plans to open a 60,000-sq.-ft. store in the Chicago area in late spring 2012, followed by an additional location in the area later in the year. The two Chicago metro stores will be the company’s first locations in the Midwest.

    The first store will be located in Schaumburg at the site of the former Great Indoors store at Golf Road and Meacham Road near Woodfield Mall, the largest mall in Chicagoland. The location of the second store will be announced at a later date.

    New York City -- In  response to Columbia Sportswear Co.’s desire to reduce its PCI scope for its retail locations by minimizing or eliminating the need to store any payment data on its network environment, payment processing and security vendors, Equinox Payments Voltage Security, and Merchant Link have collaborated to create a reliable, cloud-based payment solution to protect sensitive point-of-sale payment data.

  • Shopko launches mobile pharmacy app

    Green Bay, Wis. -- Shopko said Tuesday it has launched a mobile pharmacy app, allowing users to refill and manage pharmacy prescriptions from their smartphones. 

    The free app, available on the iPhone, Android and Blackberry platforms, allows Shopko pharmacy customers to request refills, review active prescription details — including expiration date, refills remaining and overdue refills — set up dosage reminders and receive email/text notifications when a prescription refill is ready.
