  • Safeway profits up in Q1, opening more Lifestyle stores

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway's first quarter net income rose to $81.6 million, from $25.1 million in the year-earlier period. Sales edged up 2.4% to $10 billion, from $9.8 billion last year. Same-store sales were flat.

  • Parmida Home debuts in Virginia

    Fredericksburg, Va. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. announced that Parmida Home will open a new store at The Village at Towne Centre, near Fredericksburg, Va.

    The 6,900-sq.-ft. store is slated to open in early November across from Sephora.

    The Village at Towne Centre is the outdoor shopping district of Spotsylvania Towne Centre, a 1.7 million-sq.-ft. complex offering more than 120 department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues.
     

  • Safeway profits soar in Q1; 10 Lifestyle stores on tap in 2012

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Safeway Inc. reported Thursday that net income for the first quarter rose to $81.6 million, from $25.1 million in the year-earlier period.

    Sales edged up 2.4% to $10 billion, from $9.8 billion last year. Same-store sales were flat.

    “We continue to believe sales will grow as our new marketing initiatives take hold," said Steve Burd, chairman and CEO.

    PLANO, Texas — JCPenney has made a number of key appointments in the areas of real estate, supply chain, communications, marketing and philanthropy.

  • Party City to open new Manhattan location

    New York – Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners said it has negotiated an 11,825-sq.-ft. lease on behalf of Party City for a new store in the Penn Plaza district of Manhattan.

    The store, at 223 West 34th St., is scheduled to open in second quarter 2012. This will be the party goods retailer’s second location in Manhattan.
     

  • NRDC announces new tenants for Northampton Crossings

    Easton, Pa. -- Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development has announced the opening of Panera Bread at Northampton Crossings, located in Easton, Pa. Panera occupies a 3,860-sq.-ft. drive-thru space.

    PetSmart will open at the center in late spring, with a 12,500-sq.-ft. store. The two new stores join anchor tenants Walmart Supercenter, Kohl’s, Sam’s Club and Regal Cinemas.

    Other recent transactions at the center include Staples and Shoe Show lease renewals.
     

  • Sears expands 'Scrubology' shops

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings has expanded the availability of its in-store professional apparel shop to 91 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide. The concept, called, "Scrubology," is already open in 39 stores and offers work apparel and uniforms for professionals in industrial, service and healthcare fields.

    The concept is a partnership with Work 'N Gear.
