  • Starbucks plans to double Clover locations

    Seattle – Starbucks Coffee Company is opening its 500th location featuring Clover brewing, with plans to double the number of Clover locations globally by the end of 2014. Starbucks has offered its Starbucks Reserve coffees, a line of rare and exotic small batch single origin coffees brewed with the single-cup Clover system, since 2010.

  • Boost in Walgreens’ July sales

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — July sales at Walgreens experienced an 8% boost. They totaled $6.03 billion, up from $5.59 billion for the same month in fiscal 2012. 

    Comparable-store sales increased by 6.3% in July. Calendar day shifts positively impacted total comparable sales by 1.4 percentage points, while generic drug introductions in the last 12 months negatively impacted total comparable sales by 1.8 percentage points.

  • H.H. Gregg opens new Indiana store

    Indianapolis – H.H. Gregg is opening a new store in Bloomington, Ind. on Aug. 15. The new location at 240 North Gates Street will replace the previous location at 606 West Gourley Pike.

  • Toys ‘R’ Us announces 2013 global expansion plans; 100-plus stores on tap

    Wayne, N.J. – Toys “R” Us on Wednesday unveiled its global growth for 2013, with the planned opening of more than 100 stores, including new locations, the relocation and conversion of 14 stores to its side-by-side format, and 22 new licensed stores. The openings represent the net addition of over 900,000 sq. ft. of retail space to the company’s store portfolio.

  • REI plans fall 2014 opening in Knoxville

    Seattle -- REI announced plans to open a store in Knoxville, Tenn., in fall 2014.

    The 23,500-sq.-ft. store, at Papermill Plaza, will include a bike shop that provides expert assembly and repair services, and a community space to host outdoor-related classes, presentations and events.

  • Anna’s Linens optimizes site for mobile

    Costa Mesa, Calif. -- Anna’s Linens is optimizing its e-commerce site for mobile device users. The retailer says nearly one-third of its online traffic originates from mobile devices, prompting the move.
