  • Cache to improve e-commerce, introduce mobile commerce

    New York City -- Women’s apparel retailer Cache Inc. said Thursday that it has partnered with e-commerce solution provider FiftyOne Global Ecommerce to facilitate international sales and shipments to more than 100 countries, beginning in fall 2012.

  • Neiman Marcus tests interactive iPhone app

    Dallas -- Neiman Marcus said Thursday that it is testing a new iPhone-only app that allows customers to interact directly with their sales associates.

    The new app, NM Service, is being tested in four stores this spring — in Austin, Texas; Dallas; San Francisco; and Palo Alto, Calif.

    New York City -- Macy’s has unveiled the launch of its new Facebook page. Shifting to Facebook’s new timeline format, Macy’s will now share the history of its brand, as well as the company’s current news and initiatives.

  • Staples Q4 profit rises 3.2%

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples Inc. beat Wall Street estimates as its fiscal fourth-quarter net income rose 3.2% to $283.6 million. Weakness in Europe and Australia was offset by the company’s strongest North American retail sales growth in more than a year.

    Total company sales rose 0.7% to $6.46 billion, while analysts expected about $6.45 billion. Sales at Staples’ North American delivery segment and domestic retail segment, which together account for about 80% of the company's revenue, rose 2% to $5.16 billion.

  • Survey: Long checkout lines a major turnoff to shoppers

    Boston -- Nearly 40% of smartphone-carrying shoppers abandon their in-store purchases due to long lines and 21% will abandon their purchases if there are no registers open, according to a survey sponsored by in-store commerce provider AisleBuyer.

  • Stein Mart selects Level 3's Smart WAN solution

    Broomfield, Colo. -- Level 3 Communications said Tuesday that Stein Mart will implement its Smart WAN Solution to support critical business applications.

    Stein Mart will use Level 3's Smart WAN Solution to more efficiently and reliably access frequently used business applications, such as revenue reporting, data analytics, and inventory tracking, by connecting its store and data facilities over a single network.
