  • More merchants go live on Master Card’s digital platform, MasterPass

    Purchase, N.Y. -- Beyond the Rack, Currys, lastminute.com, Newegg and PC World have gone live on MasterPass, the digital platform from Master Card. More than 20,000 leading retailers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia are now on the platform, according to Master Card.

  • Microsoft partners with First Data to power digital deals

    Global ecommerce and payment processing leader First Data Corporation and Microsoft to simplify retailers ability to offer and redeem local deal offers.

    The companies said that First Data’s OfferWise solution has been integrated with Microsoft’s Bing Offers Card-Linked which consolidates local deals from a number of deal providers. OfferWise is an open platform that enables retailers to electronically attach offers to any consumer payment card or mobile wallet to allow streamlined and automatic redemption of the offer at the point of sale.

  • CashStar appoints new CEO

    CashStar, a digital gifting company, has named Ben Kaplan as the company’s president and CEO. In addition to his role as president and CEO, Kaplan remains a member of the company’s board of directors, to which he was appointed in August when he joined CashStar as COO.

  • RadioShack opens two additional new concept stores in Manhattan

    New York -- RadioShack unveiled a store remodeled to its new high-touch format, in Manhattan, with an additional Big Apple location set to open on Oct. 12. The format incorporates interactive areas designed to help shoppers improve their technology profile. The chain premiered the design in July, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

    Features of RadioShack’s updated design include:

    Newly configured displays highlighting in-demand brands like Apple, HTC and Samsung, as well as mobile carriers such as AT&T, Sprint and Verizon;

  • Payments tech company partners with point-of-sale software developer

    Merchant Warehouse, a leading provider of payment technologies and merchant account services, has entered into a partnership with Revel Systems, a point-of-sale software developer. 

    According to both companies, Revel Systems' integration with Merchant Warehouse's Genius Customer Engagement Platform enables merchants to gain greater business intelligence capabilities to more effectively streamline, analyze and grow their businesses.

  • Through the Looking Glass

    The “present” of retail technology just got a little more futuristic. Specialty paint retailer Sherwin-Williams recently released a new consumer app for Google Glass, called ColorSnap Glass, which provides a digital layer of color samples customers can view using the Google Glass device.

OfferWise is an open platform that enables retailers to electronically attach offers to any consumer payment card or mobile wallet to allow streamlined and automatic redemption of the offer at the point of sale (POS).  

  • BitPay offers incentive for global merchants

    BitPay, a payment service provider specializing in e-commerce, B2B and enterprise solutions for virtual currencies, is now offering translations into 10 languages plus English for its entire checkout experience.

    Merchants servicing international customers can now present bitcoin payment instructions in the buyer’s native language, allowing merchants to more easily conduct business in emerging markets.
