  • Walmart Labs buys Luvocracy social recommendation site

    San Bruno, Calif. – WalmartLabs, the division of Wal-Mart’s e-commerce operation dedicated to developing new technology, has purchased Luvocracy, an online community that helps consumers find products recommended by family members, friends and online influencers. Founded three years ago, Luvocracy was one of the first companies to enable the entire social shopping experience, from discovery to commerce, to occur within its app.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts partners with Discovery Channel for ‘Shark Week’ promo

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts is partnering with Discovery Channel to create an omnichannel marketing promotion for Discovery Channel’s upcoming “Shark Week” programming event the week of Aug. 10. To kick-off the partnership, beginning July 29 customers can "Take a Bite, Take a Pic."

  • Mattress Firm rolls out Genesis Credit financing option

    Houston -- Mattress Firm Holding Corp. has completed its rollout of Genesis Credit second-look financing, which is powered by Genesis Financial Solutions. Genesis Credit allows customers with less-than-perfect credit to purchase goods and services from any Mattress Firm location.

  • Wayfair adds e-commerce expert to board

    Online home furnishings company Wayfair has added e-commerce expert Romero Rodrigues to its board of directors.

    Rodrigues, a 36-year-old Brazil native, is currently global CEO at South African company Naspers, which acquired his company Buscape in 2009 for $374 million.

  • Westchester’s Ridge Hill to offer interactive Dreamworks Santa exhibit

    Brooklyn, N.Y. - Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC), owner and developer of Westchester’s Ridge Hill, will host DreamPlace, an interactive Santa adventure. DreamWorks Animation has chosen Westchester’s Ridge Hill as one of just seven locations around the country, and the only one in the Northeast during the 2014 holiday season.

  • Survey: Smartphones drive cross-device orders

    Charlottesville, Va. - Smartphones generated 19% of paid search clicks and 9% of search spend in second quarter 2014, while tablets produced 18% of clicks and 19% of spend. According to the Q2 Digital Marketing Report from RKG, which surveyed retailers in its client base, cross-device tracking surfaces 7% more orders overall, but 14% more smartphone orders.

    While smartphones produce 12% of traditionally tracked conversions, they contribute nearly 25% of cross-device orders.

  • Retail groups ask for tokenization in payment security

    Washington, D.C. – The National Retail Federation (NRF), Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), Food Marketing Institute (FMI), Merchant Advisory Group, National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), National Grocers Association, and National Restaurant Association (NRA) are jointly calling for an open and universal tokenization standard in the U.S. payments system.

  • Report: Meijer focuses on apparel

    Grand Rapids. Mich. – Meijer is reportedly focusing on making its apparel, footwear and accessories assortment more appealing to fashion-conscious customers. According to the Detroit News, Meijer is taking steps including redesigning its stores, hiring outside consultants and launching a multimedia marketing campaign to improve the appeal of apparel and related categories.
