  • Danfloss helps Supervalu complete first all-natural refrigerant store

    Baltimore -- Danfloss,  a manufacturer of high-efficiency electronic and mechanical components and controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and motion systems, and provider of energy management and control solutions for the food retail industry, was chosen by Supervalue to provide a range of energy-saving products and support for a remodel project that has resulted in the development of the company’s first grocery store operating 100%  on natural refrigerants.

  • Ross Stores profit rises 11% in Q3, sales miss

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Ross Stores Inc. reported Thursday that net income rose 10.8% to $159.5 million in the third quarter, compared with $144 million a year earlier.

    Revenue rose 10.6% to $2.26 billion, missing Wall Street’s expected $2.34 billion in revenue. Same-store sales climbed 5%.

    The retailer has reaffirmed its guidance for the fourth quarter.

  • BDO Survey: Retailers anticipate 3.1% increase in Black Friday sales

    Chicago -- Retailers project a 3.1% increase in sales on Black Friday, according to a survey of top retail chief marketing officers by BDO USA, LLP. This optimism follows last year's modest projection of 1.6% growth, which preceded record sales over Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Ikea seeks to build larger store in Burbank, Calif.

    Conshohocken, Pa. – Ikea announced it is submitting plans to the City of Burbank, Calif., for a new and larger store to replace its current location among the Swedish retailer’s presence in the Los Angeles area. The application will mark the beginning of the governmental review process for this proposed relocation.

  • Target Q3 profit beats Street

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. reported Thursday net income of $637 million for the third quarter, compared with $555 million in the prior-year period and beating Wall Street expectations.
     
    The retailer previously reported that sales rose 3.4% to $16.60 billion in the quarter, and same-store sales climbed 2.9%.

    Target is forecasting a fourth-quarter earnings range that at the high-end tops estimates.

     

  • Hot Topic Q3 profit leaps 38%

    City of Industry, Calif. -- Hot Topic Inc. reported Wednesday that profit for the third quarter jumped 38% to $4.3 million, from $3.1 million in the year-ago quarter.

    Revenue edged up 2% to $179.4 million from $175.8 million, missing Wall Street’s expected $182.9 million in revenue.

    Same-store sales rose a slight 0.2%.
