  • SymphonyIRI reverts to original name in rebranding move

    SymphonyIRI Group president and CEO Andrew Appel announced this week that the company will revert to its original name, Information Resources, or IRI, as part of a rebranding strategy.

    “Our rebranding signifies our promise to continue providing ingenious solutions and capabilities for our clients to enable growth in a highly fragmented, competitive and complex market,” Appel said “We are well positioned to be the catalyst that enables CPG and retail companies to take advantage of new opportunities.”

  • Office Depot expands National Green Business Challenge

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — Office Depot will team up with ICLEI–Local Governments for Sustainability to expand the National Green Business Challenge, a program that encourages local businesses to take part in a friendly competition to save energy and money, reduce waste and water consumption and procure greener products. 

    The program was first piloted in 2010 as the City of Chicago’s "Green Office Challenge."

  • Sears Holdings launches fulfillment service for merchants

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings is offering a simple, cost-effective way for businesses to manage storage, picking, packing and shipping of customer orders from Sears Marketplace and other places a merchant sells products.

    Fulfilled By Sears allows merchants to market and sell to members of the company's Shop Your Way Rewards program. Sears said members of the program buy and spend more and recently exceeded 60% of Sears’ transactions and sales.

  • Protection programs provider Assurant appoints new SVP

    Assurant Solutions, a leading provider of extended protection programs and services, has appointed Jeff Unterreiner as SVP of its extended protection solutions business. 

    Unterreiner now has overall management responsibilities for the company’s extended service contract and vehicle service contract business. 

  • Survey: Consumers loyal to brands that create social media experience

    New York -- Survey results released Tuesday by Analytic Partners found that 48% of people between the ages of 18-44 feel that any loyalty they have toward brands in the future will have to stem from the types of experiences the brands create for them.

    The experience includes interaction such as video/online gaming, social media and third-party expert information through blogs and articles.

  • Walmart unveils sustainable commitments in global meeting

    Bentonville, Ark. -- In its Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting on Monday, Walmart announced new commitments the retailer says will dramatically increase energy efficiency and renewables, and hasten its path toward being 100% supplied by renewable energy.

    Walmart president and CEO Mike Duke outlined specific goals the company said it intends to achieve by Dec. 31, 2020:
