  • Buy For Less goes mobile

    Oklahoma City – Independent regional grocery chain Buy For Less is mobilizing in-store and back-end operations at its 14 stores using XG100 handheld devices from Janam Technologies LLC. The pistol-shaped mobile computers allow employees to perform tasks such as scanning barcodes and communicating wirelessly.

    "The Janam XG100 wireless device allows us to leverage newer, better technologies and features that are more user friendly and ultimately provide greater value to our guests," said Jared Black, director of IT at Buy For Less.  

  • Food service demand rises on campus

    Chicago – A growing demand for on campus food service exists among US college and university students, according to new data from Technomic. The latest Technomic College & University Trend Report shows that 69% of college students purchase food and beverage from on-campus foodservice facilities once a week or more. This is close to the 71% of college students who did so in 2009 and is a substantial gain from the 62% who paid visits to campus foodservice facilities once a week or more in 2011.

  • Shop.org names 6 new board members

    Washington, D.C. – Shop.org, the digital retail division of the National Retail Federation (NRF), named six new members to its board of directors and also reappointed three existing members. All nine members will serve two-year terms.

  • Brick-and-mortar sales soar in spring

    San Jose – Brick-and-mortar retail sales soared during this past spring, according to new metrics from RetailNext. Using its in-store analytics platform to collect metrics on millions of shopping trips to department stores and specialty retailers nationwide, RetailNext studied and released its analysis of traffic, conversion, sales, and average transaction values (ATV) for the spring season, including the four holidays of Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and Father’s Day, as well as the days leading up to Father’s Day and Easter Sunday.

  • Mulberry seeks responsive supply chain

    Somerset, England – British fashion retailer Mulberry operates vertically, selling its own products through a chain of 110 stores. Needing to support this endeavor through improved customer service levels, higher operational efficiency and a more responsive supply chain, in first quarter 2013 Mulberry selected JDA demand and fulfillment solutions, which the retailer will deploy though the JDA cloud services offering.

  • Haggar supports store expansion

    Dallas – Haggar Clothing Co. is supporting a planned expansion of its store presence in the U.S. and Canadian markets with the implementation of multiple solutions from Epicor Retail Software. Haggar seeks to open 10 to 15 new stores annually in the U.S. through 2017 and two to three stores a year during the next four years throughout Canada.

  • Dick’s unveils digital training platform

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods is launching a digital athletic training platform in partnership with sports training provider IMG Academy. The platform, known as “Day One,” operates across PC, mobile and tablet devices and provides comprehensive training information for fall, winter and spring sports including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, golf and tennis.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond has dreamy Q1

    Union, N.J. – Bed, Bath & Beyond Inc. reported positive financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2013. Although net earnings fell from $206.8 million to $202.5 million, net earnings per diluted share increased roughly 4.5% from $0.89 to $0.93.
