  • Stater names senior VP retail operations

    San Bernardino, Calif. -- Dan Meyer has been promoted to the position of senior VP, retail operations of Stater Bros. Markets. A new position in the company, Meyer will be responsible for the retail operations of Stater Bros.’ 167 supermarkets as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Training Center. 

    Meyer, who joined Stater Bros. in 1971, most recently served as  senior regional VP.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond Q2 profit up 26%, talks expansion

    Union N.J. -- Bed Bath & Beyond reported Thursday that net income for the quarter ended Aug. 27 rose 26% to $229.4 million, amid improved sales and contained costs. Sales for the quarter rose 8.3% to $2.3 billion, and same-store sales increased 5.6%.

  • Rite Aid narrows loss in Q2

    Camp Hill, Pa. -- Rite Aid Corp. reported Thursday that it narrowed its loss in the quarter ended Aug. 27 to $94.7 million, from $199.3 million in the year earlier period.

    Revenue rose 1.8% in the quarter to $6.3 billion, and same-store sales – as previously reported – increased 2.2%.

    The drugstore retailer has modified its outlook, now expecting smaller losses for fiscal 2012 than originally anticipated.

  • SRS Real Estate announces new hire

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners said it has hired Andrew Cornwell as a research analyst in the Austin/San Antonio office.

    Prior to this role, Cornwell was an intern for SRS where he focused on research while working closely with the investment sales team.

  • Walgreens to brighten Ohio stores with solar installations

    CHICAGO — Walgreens is looking to roll out solar installations at its Ohio-area stores, thanks to a new partnership with a Chicago-based solar developer.

    The retailer said that it selected SoCore Energy to provide 90 solar installations for the Ohio-based stores. The partnership began earlier this month with the construction of 20 solar installations at Walgreens stores in Cincinnati. Walgreens and SoCore Energy said that the first 53 solar installations is slated to be completed by Nov. 11.

  • LandMark Retail Group partners with Accubranch

    Woodland Hills, Calif. -- LandMark Retail Group, a subsidiary of NewMark Merrill Cos., has partnered with Accubranch, a strategic planning and market research group that specializes in providing real estate advice to the regional banking industry.

  • Aaron’s selects Lucernex for store life cycle management solution

    Dallas -- Lucernex Technologies said Tuesday that Aaron’s has selected Lucernex’s Lx Retail to manage its over 1,800 stores in 48 states and Canada.

    “After evaluating our operational requirements, we realized that we needed more than just a replacement for our legacy lease administration system.  We needed an integrated approach to managing our real estate. Lucernex offers a solution that will allow us to manage the entire store life cycle in one database and on one platform,” said senior VP real estate, Paul Doize.

  • Simon Property Group recognized for climate disclosure

    Indianapolis -- Shopping center owner Simon Property Group said Tuesday that it has again been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project with inclusion in its Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index.
