    Amazon is making its next global logistics move.    The online retailer plans to enable its Chinese sellers to fly their goods internationally as air cargo, according to MarketWatch.   
  • DHL expands its breadth to accommodate omnichannel retailers

    DHL is helping high-volume retailers speed up “the last mile” of their omnichannel shopping experience.   DHL eCommerce, a division of logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group, is expanding the functionality of its fulfillment centers in Columbus, Ohio, and Riverside, California. Specifically, the logistics company is investing in storage and mechanization to support the growing needs of its U.S.-based e-commerce retail partners that ship between 300 and 15,000 orders per day. They will also manage both B2C and B2B transactions.

  • Report: Grocer invests in new replenishment facility

    The Kroger Co. is preparing to break ground on its newest distribution center.   The grocer is investing $60 million in the 674,000-sq.-ft. depot, which will primarily be used to replenish Kroger’s direct-to-store distribution centers across the eastern half of the country, according to the Northern Kentucky Tribune.

    Amazon is making a big commitment to renewable energy.   The online giant announced plans to install solar panels on its fulfillment facilities around the world, including the deployment of large-scale solar systems on rooftops of more than 15 U.S. fulfillment and sortation centers this year.   Amazon plans to deploy solar systems on 50 fulfillment and sortation centers globally by 2020.
