  • Office supplies giant sells operations in China

    Office Depot is selling off another international unit.   The office supplies giant announced it will sell its stores in China to Shanghai M&G Colipu Office Supplies Co., Ltd. The public, China-based public company manufactures and sells writing instruments, as well as stationery products for offices and students.   

  • Amazon continues to bolster distribution fleet

    Amazon is preparing to expand its fulfillment capabilities in Georgia.   The online giant will open a new 850,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Jefferson, Georgia. The facility will employ 1,000 full-time employees. The fulfillment center will pick, pack and ship large items, including household furniture, sporting equipment and gardening tools, among other merchandise. The facility will be the second in Georgia’s Jackson County, and the fourth in the state.   

  • E-retailer offers fulfillment services

    Newegg is adding supply chain support to its portfolio.   The electronics-focused e-retailer launched Newegg Logistics, the company’s branded logistics solution designed to help e-commerce sellers streamline order fulfillment, shipment and returns. Based on the many years it spent refining its own e-commerce logistics operations, Newegg’s service will help other businesses break into online sales.  

  • Report: Boxed to create robotics-run warehouse

    While some industry observers fear that robots will replace retail workers, Boxed is embracing the technology.   The online retailer, which sells consumer packaged goods in bulk, announced on Thursday, April 27, that it will completely automate its fulfillment center in Union, New Jersey, with robotics — a move that will contribute to driving reliable profits, according to Business Insider.  

  • Ace Hardware streamlines East Coast distribution operations

    In a major restructuring of its eastern U.S. distribution network, Ace Hardware Corp. intends to open a new 1.1. million-sq.-ft. Retail Support Center in Pennsylvania while closing a handful of other facilities.   The moves will play out over the next 24 months.  

  • Online giant expands its supply network in New Jersey

    Amazon’s distribution fleet is once again bolstering its breadth.   The online giant plans to open three additional fulfillment centers in New Jersey. The new sites in Cranbury Township, Edison and Logan Township, a move that will create more than 2,500 new, full-time jobs.   

  • Amazon adds semi-truck fleet to its expanding transportation network

    Amazon drones may still be in the future, but Amazon trucks are ready now.

    The Internet giant on Friday said it has purchased thousands of trailers that it will deploy in shipments to shuttle inventory along its supply chain, but not to customer homes. The Amazon-branded trailers will be pulled by tractor trucks provided by existing third-party transportation partners.

    Amazon made the announcement at an event in Chicago where employees prepared 2,000 care packages to be sent to soldiers overseas. The packages included Amazon Fire tablets.

  • Tractor Supply slashes energy costs 40% at new DC

    Tractor Supply Company is seeing green at its new distribution center.

    The company’s new DC ,in Casa Grande, Arizona, has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the second LEED Silver certification awarded to a Tractor Supply Company facility within the last year.
