Amazon is once again expanding its distribution fleet — this time in the Beehive State.
The online giant will open an 855,000 sq. ft. fulfillment center in Salt Lake City — the company’s first warehouse in Utah. The facility, which will employ 1,500 full-time hourly associates, will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.
“In Utah, there are already more than 30,000 authors, sellers, and developers growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Amazon products and services’ said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s VP of North American operations. “This new facility will enable us to better serve customers and improve Prime membership benefits.”
Earlier this week, Amazon announced it will expand its presence in Florida with the state’s first “mega warehouse.” The facility, which will be staffed with robots and more than 1,000 workers, is being called the largest Amazon warehouse south of Tampa.
