  • Zale appoints GM of Piercing Pagoda kiosk division

    Dallas -- Zale Corp. said Tuesday that it has named Jamie Singleton as senior VP and general manager of Piercing Pagoda, effective March 27.

    Singleton is charged with overall responsibility for the company’s kiosk business and will report to Theo Killion, CEO.

    Singleton most recently served as senior VP business expansion at CPI Corp.

  • Retail sales continue to grow in 2012

    WASHINGTON — Retail sales continue to rise for 2012 as the U.S. Census Bureau reported results of February sales on Tuesday.

    U.S. retail and food services sales for February, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $407.8 billion, an increase of 1.1% from the previous month and 6.5% above the year-ago period. Retail trade sales were up 1.1% from last month and 6.3% above last year.

  • NRF: February retail sales up 8.6% year-over-year

    Washington, D.C. -- The National Retail Federation released information on Tuesday that showed a year-over-year retail sales rise of 8.6% in February, marking 20 consecutive months of sustained growth.

    The seasonally adjusted increase -- stronger than expected -- was 0.5%, which excludes automobiles, gas stations and restaurants.

  • U.S. retail sales rose in February by most in five months

    Washington, D.C. -- A report released Tuesday by the Commerce Department said that retail sales in the United States rose 1.1% in February, the most in five months.

    The advance matched Bloomberg estimates and followed on the heels of a 0.6% increase in January that was larger than anticipated.

  • SRS Real Estate announces Houston leadership

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced that new leadership in the Houston office has been put in place to help strengthen the firm’s presence throughout central and south Texas.

    Todd Wallace and Robert O’Farrell have been named co-market leaders for the Houston office, focusing on growth via building its retail brokerage team.

    Wallace and O’Farrell currently lead the Austin and newly established San Antonio offices as well. With this leadership change, Wallace and O’Farrell will be leading all the offices.

  • Former Sam’s CEO Cornell lands at PepsiCo

    Purchase, N.Y. -- Less than two months after resigning as president and CEO of Sam’s Club, Brian Cornell has landed at Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo where he will serve as CEO of the company’s North American food division.

    Cornell will be responsible for Frito-Lay North America, Quaker Foods & Snacks North America, PepsiCo Mexico, South America Foods, PepsiCo customer teams and all of PepsiCo’s Power of One activities within the Americas.
