  • Nicole Richie to design latest Impulse collection for Macy's

    NEW YORK — Macy's has partnered with fashion icon Nicole Richie (daughter of famed singer Lionel Richie) for an exclusive line for the company's Impulse division. Nicole Richie for Impulse will launch in 100 Macy's stores and at Macys.com in September and will feature apparel inspired by Richie's trendsetting personal style, including 1970s influenced silhouettes, prints and fabrications, the company said.

  • Study: Retail employee turnover increasing

    Philadelphia -- Management consulting firm Hay Group reported Tuesday that employee turnover levels in the retail industry are on the rise.

    According to a new survey from Hay Group, an improving job market and solid first quarter sales are impacting turnover. Retailers report a median turnover rate of 67% for part-time store workers, a 33% increase over 2011. One in five retailers report that they have experienced more turnover in the first part of 2012.

  • Lowe’s introduces app for Android

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s Home Improvement said Tuesday that its home improvement app is now available for Android devices.

    The app can be downloaded at Google Play, Google's new online store for digital media. Customers now may shop directly from the free app; access their MyLowe’s account; locate stores and view how-to videos, inspirational galleries and product ratings.

  • Former Target exec joins logistics company

    SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. — Weber Logistics, a third party logistics company in the Western United States, has named former Target human resources manager, Sheila Jordan, as its new VP human resources. Jordan will report to Weber’s CEO, Harry Drajpuch, and be responsible for all human resource-related activities, including hiring, training, associate development and administration, for employees across Weber’s 17 distribution centers and freight terminals.

  • DSW adds to urban presence with new downtown Chicago store

    Columbus, Ohio -- DSW Inc. said Tuesday that its newest store, located in the State Street shopping district of downtown Chicago, is slated to open on May 10, bringing the shoe retailer’s total downtown Chicago store count to two and 17 in Chicagoland.

    The new two-level store features 25,000 sq. ft. of space.

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — "Modern Family" star, Sofia Vergara, is expanding her brand at Kmart with the launch of a new, exclusive home collection. The actress' apparel line launched at Kmart and on Kmart.com in the fall of 2011.

  • Lowe’s realigns leadership toward improved customer experience

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s Cos. said Tuesday it has realigned corporate personnel and responsibilities to focus the home improvement retailer more closely on customer experience strategies.

    Lowe’s established a Customer Experience organization, led by chief customer officer Gregory M. Bridgeford, charged with creating customer experiences that will best serve customers and differentiate Lowe’s from its competitors.

  • Frederick’s of Hollywood exploring possible sale

    Hollywood, Calif. -- Frederick's of Hollywood Group Inc. has retained Allen & Co. LLC, a New York-based investment bank, to assist the retailer in evaluating and exploring a broad range of strategic alternatives, including a sale of the company or a business combination.
