  • NYT Editorial: Congress signals readiness to require sales tax for online retailers

    NEW YORK — The New York Times Editorial Board in an editorial published Tuesday, signaled Congress may be ready to take up the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013, a bill allowing states to require online retailers to collect sales taxes.

  • Safeway, Solohealth sign agreement to install kiosks across store base

    ATLANTA — Safeway has agreed to install SoloHealth Station kiosks across almost 700 stores as part of a multiyear agreement, SoloHealth announced earlier this week. 

    “Safeway shares our commitment of empowering consumers to take charge of their health,” stated Stephen Kendig, chief commercial officer and EVP SoloHealth. “We believe that access, awareness and education are keys to a healthy lifestyle, and we’re bringing comprehensive health and wellness services directly to Safeway’s customers.”

  • Cache.com engages SLI Systems to implement site search

    San Jose, Calif. -- SLI Systems said Wednesday that Cache has implemented its full-service Learning Search solution for Cache.com, resulting in an 88% increase in the conversion rate among site search users.

    The company, said SLI, has also seen a 42% increase in site search usage by its online visitors, driving more sales and revenues.

  • Kleinfeld Bridal to open in Hudson’s Bay flagship in Toronto

    New York -- Kleinfeld Bridal, the iconic New York bridal retailer and star of the hit reality show “Say Yes to the Dress,” will open a 20,000-sq.-ft. salon in Hudson’s Bay’s flagship location in downtown Toronto in early 2014. The Hudson’s Bay Company has exclusive rights to the brand in Canada.

  • Kroger's VP and pension investment officer announces retirement

    CINCINNATI — Kroger on Tuesday announced the planned retirement of VP and pension investment officer, Rich Manka. His retirement is effective July 15.

    "Throughout his career, Rich has been a trusted member of Kroger's leadership team," stated Mike Schlotman, Kroger's CFO. "Pension plan trustees and participants alike have benefited from his vast knowledge and influence on investment strategies and plan designs. We thank Rich for his contributions to our company and industry and wish him the very best."
