  • Starbucks shakes up executive roles

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company has announced a new leadership structure that it says positions the company to leverage its assets and operations, and gain maximum benefit from the retail, consumer, mobile and digital shifts currently underway in the global marketplace.

  • Welch's unveils PB&J Snacks

    Welch's Fruit Snacks have launched Welch's PB&J Snacks, which combines peanut butter and jelly in one treat.

    The bite-size snacks have a chewy center made with real fruit, which is surrounded by a peanut butter coating, according to the company. Snackers can choose from four varieties: Concord Grape or Strawberry center and creamy or crunch peanut butter outside.

  • Rite Aid same-store sales rise 1.8% in January

    Camp Hill, Pa. - For the four-week period ended Jan. 25, Rite Aid’s same-store sales grew 1.8%. Front-end same-store sales decreased 1.3%, attributable to a decrease in flu-related over-the-counter drug sales.

    Total drug sales for the month increased 1.5% to $1.94 billion, compared to $1.91 billion in the same period a year earlier.

     

  • MicroStrategy releases new mobile offerings

    Las Vegas – The new MicroStrategy Analytics app for iPad allows users to get an optimized mobile view of their organizations’ analytical insights, while the MicroStrategy Analytics app enables users to connect to their analytics applications, and securely browse through project folders of grids, graphs, visual insights, visualizations and dashboards.

  • More job cuts at Sears Canada

    Sears Canada, which laid off more than 1,300 employees on Jan. 15, is cutting an additional 624 jobs. The retailer said it is modifying its store structure to improve efficiency and increase the effectiveness of the chain of communication between management and the store associate teams within the stores.

  • Overstock.com net income soars in Q4

    Salt Lake City – Overstock.com reported substantial increases in net income during the full year and fourth quarter 2013. During the full fiscal year, net income jumped 503% to $88.5 million from $14.7 million the prior fiscal year.

    During the fourth quarter, net income rose an ever larger 737% to $73.6 million from $8.8 million. Revenue increased 19% during the full fiscal year to $1.3 billion from $1.09 billion, and grew 16% to $397.6 million from $342 million during the fourth quarter.

  • Report: Poor tablet experience impacts purchase willingness

    New York – Almost eight-in-10 (77%) of consumers report that having a poor or unsatisfying experience while trying to use a website on their tablet will affect their willingness to purchase from that brand. Other tablet research from omni-channel commerce technology provider Useablenet shows that 70% of consumers say that the quality of photography and design of a tablet site influences their decision on whether to purchase

  • Full speed ahead for Tractor Supply in Q4

    Tractor Supply Co., the nation’s largest farm-and-ranch retailer, reported big gains in sales and earnings for the fourth quarter and full year.

    The company reported nets sales of $1.42 billion in the fourth quarter, up from $1.29 billion in the same quarter last year. Comparable-store sales increased 3.5%.

    Net income for the quarter was $95.9 million, up from $79.5 million in the same quarter last year.
