    Mooresville, N.C. - Lowe's and Porch.com have expanded their strategic partnership to the more than 1,700 Lowe's home improvement stores across the U.S. Every Lowe's store in the country now features Porch as the in-store resource to help homeowners find home improvement professionals for nearly any project outside of Lowe's current installation services.

  • The Container Store soars in fourth quarter

    The Container Store’s net income soared by about 800% year-over-year during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, to $18.34 million from $2.09 million. A substantial drop in effective tax rate, as well as lower net interest expense, helped drive the impressive growth in net income.

    Net sales slipped from $217.02 million to $216.82 million, while same-store sales climbed 1.4%. The company cited severe weather as reducing sales.

    Petco has named Larry Rutkowski as EVP and CFO.

  • Forever 21 to open new value-fashion retail concept

    New York -- Forever 21 will debut a new retail concept on May 3, at Azalea Shopping Center in South Gate, California. Called F21 Red, the format will offer fast-fashion and low prices.

    The new concept will offer a larger selection of starting price points, including $1.80 camisoles and $7.80 denim for women and girls, according to a report by California Apparel News. The men’s selection will include T-shirts and tank tops for $3.80.

  • Whole Foods raises money to fight hunger

    Whole Foods Market made a $46,784 donation to Solid Ground, a Seattle-based organization with a mission to build a community to end poverty. Throughout 2013, shoppers who visited any of the six Seattle-area Whole Foods Market stores had an opportunity to participate in the Bag Hunger program, with a cash donation to Solid Ground at the checkout registers.

    New York - Digital interactions influence 36 cents of every dollar spent in the retail store, or approximately $1.1 trillion. According to the latest study from Deloitte Digital, by the end of 2014, that number will climb to 50%, or $1.5 trillion of total store sales.
