  • Kohl's stays firm on outlook despite weak first-quarter sales

    Kohl’s joins a growing list of retailers whose first-quarter results took a hit from a severe and extended winter. Despite missing estimates, the company is staying firm on its guidance for the full fiscal year.

  • Toshiba releases new TCxWave POS solution

    Research Triangle Park, N.C. - Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, is releasing the TCxWave Model A30. This new model brings the design of the original TCxWave model to a smaller frame, allowing retailers with less space for the docked machine access to the capabilities of the original solution.

    The TCxWave features a wide touch-screen interface, and is operated by the Intel Celeron Bay Trail quad core processor, supporting Windows 7, POSReady 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Embedded Industry 8.1.

    The product will be available starting in July.

    Outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear supplier The North Face has made key leadership and organizational changes to its sales agency partnerships.

  • Gold prices hurt DGSE in Q1

    Dallas – DGSE Companies Inc. swung to a net loss of $523,000 from a net profit of $300,000 in first quarter 2014. The retailer cited significant decreases in both bullion and scrap sales resulting from a drop in gold prices as affecting its performance, which included a 32% drop in revenue to $19.9 million from $29.2 million.

    DSGE has closed 23 stores since February 2014 and expects $3.7 million in non-recurring charges in 2014 as part of discontinued operations.

  • Budweiser goes red, white and blue ahead of Memorial Day

    Budweiser's limited-edition red, white and blue cans and bottles have started arriving on store shelves just in time for Memorial Day. The packaging also marks the brand's commitment to assisting military families: Budweiser and its wholesaler family will donate more than $3 million to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

  • Construction begins on Victory Park in Dallas

    Dallas — Redevelopment has begun at Victory Park in Dallas.

    The initial phase of redevelopment, scheduled to finish up late this year, aims to improve the pedestrian experience and connect American Airlines Center/Victory Plaza and the southern area of Victory Park.

  • Joe Namath jumps onboard Team Skechers

    Skechers USA has signed hall-of-fame quarterback legend Joe Namath to represent the high-performing men’s Relaxed Fit from Skechers footwear line. A new advertising campaign featuring Namath will begin in the fall.

    “Broadway” Joe’s campaign launches with a new television commercial utilizing the same humorous tone set by spots for Relaxed Fit footwear featuring Joe Montana and Mark Cuban. The campaign will extend across all media with Namath appearing in print, outdoor, online and point-of-sale materials through 2015.

  • PetSmart opens pop-up dog park in Detroit

    Phoenix -- PetSmart has partnered with the City of Detroit and the non-profit community organization Detroit Dog Park to open a portable, pop-up dog park to a vacant lot in Detroit.
