  • Tyco rolling out RFID-based inventory intelligence across Zara stores worldwide

    Neuhausen, Switzerland -- Tyco Retail Solutions announced that fashion retailer Inditex Group, operator of Zara, has awarded Tyco a chain wide contract for RFID-based Inventory Intelligence. The Tyco solution is currently deployed in 700 Zara stores across 22 countries.

    The solution has delivered timely, accurate visibility into merchandise styles, colors and sizes for Zara, enabling Inditex to create precise merchandise plans and tailored product assortments, and to deliver an exceptional customer experience across the Zara chain, Tyco said.

  • Ross Stores’ growth strategy on track

    Ross Stores is in the process of opening 23 Ross Dress for Less and seven dd's Discounts stores across 17 different states. The new locations are part of the off-price retailer's plans to add a total of 75 Ross and 20 dd's Discounts stores during 2014.

    "These latest openings reflect our ongoing expansion strategy to fill in our presence in existing markets while also increasing penetration in our newer Midwest region where we added another eight Ross locations in July,” said Jim Fassio, president and chief development officer.

  • EConsumerServices signs JoTo PR as public relations agency

    Melville, N.Y. – EconsumerServices, an online mediator between unsatisfied customers and e-commerce retailers, has signed JoTo PR as its public relations agency. JoTo PR will assist EConsumerServices in reaching its mass market of online consumers and making industry opinion leaders and government officials aware of the issue of fraud-related chargebacks.

In fact, retailers who embrace clienteling and other strategies can leverage showrooming as an element of the overall all-channel experience for their customers. Through the use of new technologies as well as in-store and online strategies, many of those retailers who have tested clienteling have experienced a lift in customer conversion.

  • Tesco CEO to be replaced by Unilever exec

    New York -- British retailing giant Tesco Plc on Monday said CEO Philip Clarke would step down in October, to be replaced by 27-year Unilever executive Dave Lewis, with the change effective Oct. 1. Clarke, who has been with Tesco for 40 years, will remain with the retailer until January 2015.

    Also on Monday, Tesco said recent sales had been more challenging than anticipated and its profit in the first half of its financial year would be below expectations. It was the second profit warning issued since Clarke took the reins of the company in March 2011.

  • Eastchase Station ramps up development

    Montgomery, Ala. -- With the completion of Selas Drive, Eastchase will welcome the beginning of construction for Eastchase Station, a multi-tenant shopping center, and Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar.

    Located at the southwest corner of Eastchase Parkway and Eastchase Lane, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar will provide over 7,300 sq. ft. of dining space on the 1.4-acre site. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2014 and be completed in the spring of 2015.

  • Uniqlo goes green in Northern California’s Great Mall

    Uniqlo plans to open a store at Great Mall in Milpitas, California, on Sept. 12 — the first location to feature a 100% eco-friendly design, with LED lighting, greener materials and high-efficiency elements throughout.

    The new store will also include specialty shopping vignettes that create a store-within-a-store feel in the women and children’s departments. In-store display materials will also include updated digital screens.
