  • Haggar bolsters digital with new hire

    Dallas-based apparel company Haggar Clothing has appointed Eve Richey as chief digital officer, reporting to CEO Michael Stitt.

    Richey will be responsible for creating a seamless approach to the consumer experience across a variety of shopping channels, including the design, development and implementation of digital-commerce solutions that ensure customer and retailer demands and expectations are exceeded.

  • Shopzilla rebrands as Connexity

    Shopzilla wanted to highlight its recent transformation from comparison shopping to technology driven marketing solutions. To that end, it has changed its name to Connexity.

    According to the company, its new solutions enable retailers and brands to understand their consumers better, acquire new customers at a lower cost and increase sales based on retail signals that it provides.

  • Ascena Retail Q4 results miss

    Mahwah, N.J. -- Ascena Retail Group Inc. on Monday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $15.7 million, compared with $29.8 million in the year-ago period. Its results missed Wall Street expectations.

    Revenues for the quarter were $1.18 billion, compared with $1.20 billion in the prior year. The company attributed the decrease challenging tween market conditions at Justice and inventory-related issues at Lane Bryant. Results were partially offset by positive comp growth at Maurices and Catherines and new store growth at Maurices.

  • RadioShack, ‘major vendor’ in finance talks

    Fort Worth, Texas – Beleaguered consumer electronics chain RadioShack Corp. says it is in talks with an unidentified “major vendor” about modifying a commercial agreement in a way that could benefit a financial restructuring. RadioShack announced the ongoing discussions in a Sept. 22 regulatory filing.

  • Safeway seeks to buy out senior notes

    Pleasanton, Calif. – Safeway Inc. is offering to pay cash consent fees to holders of three series of senior notes due in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Note holders who accept the fees would release Safeway of the obligation to repurchase the notes at 1% interest when its expected fourth quarter merger with Albertson’s LLC occurs.

  • ICSC puts Halloween-related spending at $11.4 billion

    New York -- Nearly three-quarters (74%) of U.S. households plan to spend money on Halloween-related items, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Halloween Consumer Spending Survey. The total for Halloween-related spending is expected to be approximately $11.3 billion in 2014.

    After launching 3D print in six markets across the country, the UPS Store is expanding 3D printing services to nearly 100 additional locations nationwide.
     
    In the past year, the six locations saw demand for 3D print continuing to increase across a broad spectrum of customers.
