  • Balance Innovations names former Safeway exec CEO

    LENEXA, Kan. — Balance Innovations, a provider of reconciliation and cash office management solutions for the retail industry in the United States and Canada, has named former Safeway executive Steve Rempel president and CEO. 

    In this role, Rempel will lead the company as it further develops its core products and evolves to the next generation of cash office reconciliation solutions for the retail industry.

  • Dick’s Q1 falls short of Street expectations

    PITTSBURGH — Although Dick’s Sporting Goods reported a year-over-year increase in revenues for first quarter 2013, performance still fell short of Wall Street expectations.

    The sporting goods retailer reported first quarter revenues of $1.33 billion, a 4% increase from $1.28 billion. However, analysts expected revenues for the quarter to total $1.36 billion.

    Net income grew 13%, from $57.2 million to $64.8 million.

  • Former Gap VP named CEO of David’s Bridal

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- David’s Bridal has named Pamela B. Wallack as CEO, effective May 28. She joins David’s Bridal from Gap Inc., where she has held senior positions since 2005.

    Wallack was the president of Gap Adult, Body and Accessories from 2010 to 2011 and the president of Gap Kids and Baby from 2005 to 2010. In 2011, she was tapped to establish and lead the Gap Global Creative Center, responsible for global design, marketing and production

    CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Former Gap executive Pamela B. Wallack has been named CEO of David’s Bridal, a U.S.-based specialty retailer of bridal gown and wedding-related apparel and accessories.

    The specialty retailer is looking to leverage Wallack’s abilities to grow and improve well-known consumer brands to help drive the strategic initiatives underway at the company, including expanding the store base, bolstering the e-sommerce platform, enhancing customer experience and adding to the portfolio of high-fashion brands.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle adds team to retail brokerage in Hawaii

    Honolulu -- Jones Lang LaSalle said that it has named Wendell Brooks III as senior VP of the firm’s retail brokerage business in Hawaii.

    Brooks will work closely with Hawaii Retail Market Lead Kirk Horiuchi to assist landlord and retail clients. He will be joined by James “Kimo” Greenwell and Robert Kelley, who will focus on retail leasing and sales.  Additionally, Melissa Masicampo joins the firm as brokerage coordinator and Mark Ching joins as graphic designer and marketing specialist to support the growing retail team.
