  • Advance Auto Parts opens at The Commons of Crystal Lake

    Crystal Lake, Ill. -- Centro Properties Group said that Advance Auto Parts has opened a new location at The Commons of Crystal Lake, located in Crystal Lake, Ill.

    According to Centro, which is based in New York City, the new store is 8,800 sq. ft.

  • Crossroads Capital Group and Steadfast Cos. form partnership

    Irvine, Calif. -- Steadfast Cos. said Wednesday that financial services industry veterans Greg Brakovich and Jamie Shepherdson have joined forces with the company to provide advisory services and to facilitate the strategic expansion of the sales and the distribution effort for the company’s privately placed and publicly registered investment products.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle names retail exec

    Honolulu, Hawaii -- Jones Lang LaSalle announced Thursday it has named commercial real estate veteran Kirk Horiuchi as senior VP in its Retail Division.

    In this newly created position, Horiuchi will oversee the company’s leased and managed portfolio, and will be tasked with growing the firm’s third-party retail business in Hawaii.

  • Five Guys Burgers and Fries to open at Westwood Village

    Magnolia, Texas -- Jacksonville, Fla.- based Regency Centers said it has leased restaurant space in Magnolia, Texas, at Westwood Village to Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

    Five Guys leased 3,127 sq. ft., bringing the center to 97% leased. The restaurant is now open for business.

    Westwood Village is a 310,000-sq.-ft. community center anchored by Target, Ross Dress For Less, and T.J. Maxx.

  • Baker Katz acquires Four Corners Shopping Center

    Tomball, Texas -- Houston-based commercial real estate brokerage Baker Katz said it has acquired the Four Corners Shopping Center in Tomball, Texas.

    Baker Katz purchased the 120,000-sq.-ft. center through an investment fund dedicated to real estate development, acquisition and ownership. The center holds the last remaining big-box vacancy in Tomball, a 45,000-sq.-ft. former Kroger space. Baker Katz plans to begin a major renovation on the center later this year and will look to re-lease the space.

  • Cypress Equities hires leasing manager

    Dallas -- Cypress Equities Cos. said it has expanded its leasing team with the addition of Giancarlo “GC” Carriero, who joins the firm as leasing manager.

    Carriero is responsible for developing and leveraging relationships with potential tenants and facilitating leasing solutions for Cypress’ nationwide retail and mixed-use projects. 

    He was previously leasing representative for General Growth Properties.
     

  • Ex-Apple exec fulfills dream, becomes JCPenney CEO

    PLANO, Texas — Things just got a whole lot more interesting in the mid-tier department store space now that JCPenney has hired former Apple executive Ron Johnson to be its CEO. Johnson is a former Target merchandising executive who for the past 11 years oversaw the growth of Apple’s wildly successful and widely heralded retail operation.
