  • PREIT names retail leasing directors

    Philadelphia — Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) announced that it has hired two new directors of retail leasing— Peter Elliott and Amy MacLaren.

    Both will be responsible for the leasing of regional malls and retail relationships with key national tenants. 

  • Interim CEO gets full time job at Office Depot

    Boca Raton, Fla. — After serving seven months in an interim capacity, Office Deport made a surprise decision and named long-time board member Neil Austrian as its new chairman and CEO. The announcement ends a lengthy search that began last fall when former chairman and CEO Steve Odland left the company on Nov. 1, amid deteriorating business results and Austrian was tapped to serve in an interim capacity. He had previously served in an interim role prior the company’s appointment of Odland.

  • Rite Aid names group VP of construction

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has appointed David Kelly as group VP construction, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

    Kelly, who has worked in real estate and development for more than 25 years, will start work May 31 and will have overall responsibility for all store planning and construction services, in addition to having a role in various segmentation initiatives such as Wellness stores, value stores and co-branded Save-A-Lot Rite Aid stores, reporting directly SVP, CFO and chief administrative officer Frank Vitrano.

  • Cushman & Wakefield appoints retail services leader

    New York City -- Cushman & Wakefield announced that Matthew Winn has been appointed senior managing director, U.S. Retail Services Leader. He will be based in Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office.

    Previously, Winn served as managing director for Cushman & Wakefield’s retail consulting group. 

  • Weitzman brings in investment exec

    Austin, Texas -- The Weitzman Group announced that Bradley Bailey has been named senior VP and director of investment sales for Central Texas and The Valley for The Weitzman Group.

    Bailey will work with Lance Morris, president of The Weitzman Group in Austin, and David Nicolson, president of Weitzman’s San Antonio office. 

    In this new position, Bailey will handle investment sales and marketing for retail and commercial properties.

  • DDR and Target launch redevelopment projects in San Antonio and Denver

    Beachwood, Ohio -- Shopping center owner and developer Developers Diversified Realty Corp. said Wednesday it will raze Terrell Plaza shopping center in San Antonio, Texas, and an existing two-story enclosed mall at Tamarac Square in Denver, Colo., to accommodate Target Corp.’s construction of two new stores.

    DDR said it intends to redevelop adjacent retail space at both centers.

  • Trademark Property hired to lease, manage Shops of Saddle Creek

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Trademark Property Co. announced Monday that it has been engaged by an institutional owner to lease and manage the Shops at Saddle Creek, a 148,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center in Germantown, Tenn.

    Trademark will also be evaluating the feasibility of a major expansion on adjacent land controlled by Saddle Creek’s owner.
