  • RadioShack’s “Weird” holiday ad

    New York -- RadioShack has brought on rock parody singer Weird Al Yankovich to star in a holiday ad.   Yankovic is appearing in the chain's holiday campaign called "Gift Smart.” In the spot, he sings his own unique take on the holiday song  “Toyland.”   
  • HGTV redesigns e-commerce site

    New York -- Home/lifestyle brand has redesigned its HGTV.com e-commerce site. The new site includes a curated photo library, revamped show and talent profile pages for the HGTV cable network, and a collection of content channels including content from HGTV television shows.   HGTV is allowing consumers to directly interact with its TV series and stars via social media.   
  • Shop Your Way launches health resource

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Shop Your Way, the loyalty program and social shopping community offered to Sears and Kmart customers, is launching a new health and wellness online resource called Shop Your Way Health.  
  • Adobe: Online prices to be lowest on Thanksgiving Day

    San Jose, Calif. -– Online prices are expected to hit rock bottom on Thanksgiving Day, lower than on any other day during the holiday season. According to the Adobe Online Shopping Report, record sales are expected for Thanksgiving with $1.35 billion and Cyber Monday with $2.6 billion, increases of 27 and 15%, respectively.   
  • SAP: Consumers say “shared values" drive brand loyalty

    Walldorf, Germany -- Nearly one-third of consumers say "shared values" as a reason they are loyal to a brand. According to an SAP survey of 3,000 American consumers age 18 and older, while email was cited as the most popular way to communicate with companies, almost half of customers (48%) said they had problems with delayed or no responses to email More than half of those surveyed (54%) would like, or may like, an offer of help before they have to ask for it.
  • Babies ‘R Us launches omnichannel holiday promotion

    Wayne, N.J. –- Babies ‘R Us is offering a "Baby's First Christmas" Twitter Party as part of a broader omnichannel holiday promotional program. Those who follow @BabiesRUs on Twitter can join on Tuesday, Nov. 11, during a chat led by @CoolMomPicks, using the hashtag #FirstHoliday.   
  • Study: Facebook dominates social media

    New York --Facebook, You Tube, Instagram and WeChat are the most important social media platforms, according to a new report by business intelligence company L2 Inc. The company's second annual Social Platforms Report, which assesses the social investment and performance of 382 brands across eight verticals and 17 platforms, finds that Facebook is the most dominant platform.
  • Survey: Retailer use of social media for product development grows 550%

    Boston -- The current use of social media data by retailers for merchandise planning is limited, with only 39% using it for product development and only 35% using it for promotional planning.
