    ABILENE, Kan. — Alco this week began offering products for sale on its website. The company has launched an e-commerce site that will offer more than 10,000 items. Features of the site include "24/7" online shopping in a secure, searchable web environment, plus delivery to home or place of business.

  • Dollar General to offer prepaid cards from Western Union

    ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Dollar General will now offer Westerm Union branded  general-purpose reloadable (GPR) prepaid cards at Dollar General’s more than 10,000 stores in 40 states.

  • Winn-Dixie launches prescription-savings card

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie on Wednesday launched a prescription-savings card that offers deep discounts on more than 400 generic medications and varied discounts on name-brand and other generic medications, the grocer announced.

    “Not everyone has insurance or health benefits that adequately cover prescriptions,” stated John Fegan, VP pharmacy for Winn-Dixie. “This program makes it easier for our customers to get the prescriptions they need at a great deal so they can focus on their health ... not on how much it costs.”

  • Golfsmith selects Moovweb to power mobile marketing

    San Francisco -- Mobile development platform-provider Moovweb said that Golfsmith has selected its SmartMoov mobile cloud technology to power the golf retailer’s next generation experiential mobile website and iPhone app.

    Golfsmith said it chose the SmartMoov platform for its ability to render merchandising features as a compelling "in store" shopping experience on its mobile website and within the app.

    PALO ALTO, Calif. — Macy's has launched a national rollout of Shopkick's location-based rewards application. Customers can now earn rewards, in shopkick’s cross-retail currency of “kicks”, just for walking in to more than 800 Macy’s stores nationwide, and instantly receive exciting exclusive deals and offers.

  • Survey: Amazon is top mobile commerce partner

    Chicago -- Amazon ranks as the coolest mobile or social affiliate program,  according to a survey conducted by EPiServer, a provider of multichannel digital marketing and e-commerce software. The  survey was conducted among CEOs, VPs, directors and e-commerce managers at more than 94 organizations including retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, catalogers, web-only merchants and local-retailers.

  • Macy’s in national rollout of Shopkick mobile rewards

    Palto Alto, Calif. -- Shopkick, the location-based shopping app that rewards shoppers for walking into stores and interacting with products, and Macy's, announced a full national rollout in more than 800 Macy’s stores of the shopping application.

  • New Kmart card offers alternative to traditional banking

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Kmart became one of the first retailers to offer a reloadable prepaid card requiring no initial charge to load funds with the launch of its new Halogen Reloadable Prepaid MasterCard offered by Green Dot. In addition to the no charge for loading funds, the card offers free ATM withdrawals from network ATMs, and is available with no bank account, credit check or minimum balance required.
