  • Canadian Tire acquires 12 Target leases

    Toronto -- Canadian Tire Corp. has concluded an agreement to acquire 12 real estate leases formerly held by Target Canada for $17.7 million. The transaction is subject to the approval of the court in connection with Target Canada's CCAA proceedings.

  • IBM, Facebook team up on super-personalized digital ads

    Armonk, N.Y. -- IBM and Facebook on Wednesday announced they are teaming up to help retailers and other brands provide more personalization in their marketing efforts on the social network.

    The two companies said they are now working together to integrate Facebook’s existing ad technologies, such as Custom Audiences, into IBM’s array of tools and services for retailers.

  • Wal-Mart focuses on speed, innovation with SAP’s HANA technology

    Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has a vast and complicated corporate infrastructure, but that doesn’t stop the world’s largest retailer from pursuing fast, fact-based decisions based on technology innovation. During a keynote address at the SAP SAPPHIRE conference in Orlando, Florida, Wal-Mart CIO Karenann Terrell described Wal-Mart’s approach to decisions and data.

  • Saks’ Off 5th enters Canada with three store locations

    Toronto -- Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th has announced its first three store locations in Canada as it prepares to enter the Canadian marketplace next year.

    The retailer will open stores in Tanger Outlets, Kanata (a suburb of Ottawa); Outlet Collection at Niagara, Niagara-on-the-Lake; and Vaughan Mills, Vaughan (just north of Toronto) in spring 2016. The three stores are the first of up to 25 locations that Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th plans to open nationwide.

  • Tucker Development, Hutensky Capital Partners acquire Town Square Wheaton

    Chicago -- Tucker Development, in joint venture with Hutensky Capital Partners, announced the $57.25 million acquisition of Town Square Wheaton (TSW), a 200,000-sq.-ft. shopping, dining and office destination located in Wheaton, Illinois.
     

  • Kohl's Cares about Nepal earthquake relief

    Kohl’s is showing its customers that it cares about the recent earthquake in Nepal by making a large donation through its Kohl's Cares program.

    The retailer is awarding a $50,000 cash grant toward earthquake relief efforts in Nepal. Kohl’s is providing this donation to the American Red Cross, which is delivering much-needed emergency supplies and services in the impacted areas.

  • Sam's Club opens new store with a bang

    Sam’s Club is toasting the grand opening of its newest club in Oklahoma with thousands of dollars in community grants and special appearances by politicians and celebrities.

    The new Sam’s Club at 1705 S. Broadway Ave. in Moore, Okla., opens May 7 following an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony. The company says the grand opening celebration will focus on the company’s commitment to the local community. “We’re so happy to be part of the community and look forward to giving back whenever we can,” said Club Manager Farrokh Moinian.
